Lipa - Grmada (by road)

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Ljubljana - Šmartno, and then we continue driving towards Tacen. In Tacen just before the road over a bridge crosses the river Sava we continue slightly right in the direction of Pirniče. A little after that, when Ljubljana ends, we get to Vikrče, and a little further in Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road to club Lipa, where we park on a large parking lot, which is intended for visitors of Šmarna gora (price for parking is 1.5 eur/h - December 2012).
B) From Šentvid we drive to Tacen, there immediately after the bridge through the river Sava left towards Pirniče. Only a little after that, when Ljubljana ends, we get to Vikrče, and a little further in Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road to club Lipa, where we park on a large parking lot, which is intended for visitors of Šmarna gora (price for parking is 1.5 eur/h - December 2012).
C) From Medvode we drive to Zgornje and then to Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road to club Lipa, where we park on a large parking lot, which is intended for visitors of Šmarna gora (price for parking is 1.5 eur/h - December 2012).

Path description:
From the parking lot, we return on the road, and from there we continue towards Zavrh. We soon get to a smaller crossroad, where a road towards the birth house of Jakob Aljaž branches off to the right, and we continue straight in the direction of Zavrh and Šmarna gora. Further, we cross a lane of a forest and then we get to the first houses in Zavrh. We continue on "main" road which continues among houses, on a marked crossroads we continue right in the direction of Šmarna gora. Asphalt at "last" house ends, and we continue on a steep road, on which it is forbidden to drive with cars (residents are the exception). We continue on the road which is steeply ascending through the forest. Higher from the right joins also the marked path over Peske, and we continue on the road which further leads past NOB monument and plague column. Higher, the road turns a little more to the left and out of the forest brings us on panoramic slopes. With a view on the summit of Šmarna gora and Kamnik Savinja Alps we quickly get to the homestead Gorjanc, from which follows a short walk to a marked crossing on the saddle Na Sedlu.
Here we continue left still on the road, and it soon splits into two parts. We can continue the ascent on the road, in this case, we get to the summit past a wish bell, or we continue right on a marked footpath which past the chapel of St. Sobota, also brings us to the summit of Šmarna gora.
