Maria Rain / Žihpolje - Aussicht Petelinz

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Ljubelj (Tržič), and then we continue driving in the direction of Celovec / Klagenfurt. After the bridge over the river Drau the road starts ascending steeper, and on the main road towards Klagenfurt we drive only few kilometers, and then we turn right in the direction of Žihpolje / Maria Rain. Further, we drive on Göltschacher Straße, which we follow to the parish office, in front of which we turn right on Kirchenstraße. The mentioned street we then follow to its end, where there is the beginning of the path towards the viewpoint Petelinz. At the starting point, there aren't any parking spots.

Path description:
From the end of Kirchenstraße we continue on a bad road, on which a further driving with a car is forbidden, and there in few 10 strides we get to the information board. From the information board, we continue on a bad road, and past the chapel it brings us to a marked crossing, where the path from the village Resnica / Ressnig joins.
From the crossing, we continue slightly left in the direction of viewpoint Petelinz. The worse road then gradually changes into a wide cart track which mostly continues through the forest. A little higher from the left joins another path from Žihpolje. Here we continue straight, and then a little further we get to the next crossing, where we continue slightly right (slightly left Št. Urh / St. Ulrich (on signposts marked only Rosentalmarsch)).
Few minutes ahead we get to the first viewpoint with a bench, but from there the view because of the nearby trees isn't anything special. From the first bench we continue in the direction of "Petelinz" and we start moderately to steeply descending towards the second better viewpoint with a bench, from which a nice view opens up towards river Drau, Borovlje and Karawanks.
