On the regional road Trojane - Izlake, immediately when we see the sign for Izlake we turn to the right and we park on a parking lot of the former complex of spa Medijske toplice.
Path description:
Because of a larger parking space I am describing this path, even though it is possible to park also at the sports field in Izlake and then continue through Gladež, where we join the below described path:
At the parking lot at Medijske toplice we leave the car and we go towards sandy part of the parking lot, where we see two paths in the forest. We go on the right path and we continue on a footpath to the edge of a meadow, where we go left. We walk by the edge of the forest and we cross a meadow, until we get to a macadam road. There we go left, towards the southeast and we continue there to the farm Prašnikar. There we turn right uphill and we follow the forest road all the way to the turn, where the road turns firmly right (path via Zg. Rovn), and we continue straight on a forest path. On the left side, there is also a tree with a blaze. We follow the path all the way to the junction with the path from Medijski grad, and then follows 15 minutes long ascent on the ridge of Kalanov hrib. The path brings us to a gentle peak, where a view opens up towards Menina planina, Golte and Čemšeniška planina. We continue straight on a large clearing, where by the ruins of old Kalanček house there is an inscription box and a view on Zasavsko hribovje.
There are several paths to return. We can descend on the south side of the meadow and we continue downwards towards Medijski grad and the chapel with mortal remains of Janez Vajkard Valvasor, and then we continue around the hill on a forest path, where we can see also famous tunnel Valvazorjev rov, which supposed to connect Medijske toplice and Medijski grad. The path brings us to a macadam road which takes us back to our starting point.
We can also return via Anžlovar, where after the ruins of the old house we turn on a forest path, which brings us to Anžlovar, where we turn right downwards and we come to the settlement Podlipovica.
