Parking Muritzen - Source of Mur / Murusprung (via Sticklerhütte)

Access to starting point:
From highway Beljak/Villach - Salzburg we go to the exit St. Michael im Lungau. Then we turn on the road towards the settlement Hintermuhr. We follow the road through the valley of Mur through the settlement Hintermuhr to the parking lot Rotgülden-Arsenhaus. At the gate we pay road toll of five euros. We need coins for one or two euros. On steep narrow asphalt road we drive to the parking lot Muritzen, where we also park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we follow the macadam road in the direction of Sticklerhütte. After approximately 800 meters we get to the chapel of St. Hubert, where we continue right in the direction of Sticklerhütte. By the path, we can all the time observe river Mur and its wild tributaries. After approximately 3.5 km of the macadam road we get to the mountain hut Sticklerütte.
To here we walk 1 hour.
We bypass the mountain hut on the left side and we continue on a worse macadam road over the river Mur to the fence for livestock. Here the road ends. We continue on settled mountain path. The path all the time leads by the river Mur and several times crosses its tributaries. At the marked crossing we follow the direction Murusprung. After approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes we get to the source.
