Planina Podvežak - Tolsti vrh (Veža) (snowy approach)

Access to starting point:
1. From Kamnik we drive to Stahovica, where we come to a crossroad of two roads. Left goes into a valley of Kamniška Bistrica, our goes straight in the direction of Črnivec. We follow considerably winding road almost to mountain pass Črnivec. Some hundred meters before the mountain pass steep road on Kranjski rak branches off sharply to the left. The road then brings us to snack bar on Kranjski rak, and only few meters ahead to a crossroad. We continue straight downwards towards Luče. After longer descent road brings us into a valley of Podvolovjek. Here on the left side of the road, we notice bar Pri Gamsu. We drive for approximately 100m to the spot, where on the right side we notice signposts for Korošica, Podveža, Ravne...(road sign is a little more than 11km). Here we go left on this road and in the next crossroads, we are following signs for mountain pasture Podvežak. Crossroads are marked with signposts. We park on a parking lot by smaller wooden garage, where for traffic closed worse road branches off to the right (if gate is open do not continue driving because you can get stuck on the other side).
2. From Štajerska side we drive to Mozirje and we follow the road ahead towards Logarska dolina. In the village Luče we turn left towards Kamnik and we follow the road to the road sign 10.5 km. Here we need to pay attention because soon road on the mountain pasture Podvežak branches off to the right. On the left side of the road are signposts for Korošica. We go on this road, and at the crossroads, we are following signs for mountain pasture Podvežak. Further, follow the upper description.
PP: In the winter time, the road is cleared of snow to Planinšek approximately 1100 meters high. When the road crosses many clearing above Planinšek we can continue the ascent on this clearing left upwards, where there is marked path. And when we come on the road we follow it to the left to the parking lot, further look the description.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we go on a worse road which at first through the forest and then on the edge of the mountain pasture brings us to the cottage on the mountain pasture. On the mountain pasture signpost points us to the right on the mountain pasture upwards. The path quickly brings us into the forest which we soon leave. Further, we walk through a small valley, which is surrounded by thin forest. At the end of the small valley path turns slightly left and then crosses slopes in few shorter descents and ascents. After the last descent, the path brings us on a nicely plain, where we leave the marked path on Korošica. At the end of the plain slightly to the left opens at first indistinct small valley. We go into this small valley and we follow it upwards. If there isn't a lot of snow we have to be careful, to look for appropriate passages among dwarf pines. Because dwarf pine isn't very dense those passages won't be hard to find. Small valley, which is in unfavorable conditions exposed to avalanches we follow ahead to the spot, where on the right side a nice passage opens (passage straight upwards is quite steep and dangerous for slipping and avalanche). This passage is not too steep. On the top of this passage on the left opens indistinct gentle small valley. Further, we walk on this small valley, which soon on the right side bypasses sinkhole and then in a gentle ascent brings us on a small saddle between Tolsti vrh on the right and Deska on the left. Here we go right on a little steeper side ridge of the peak, which is partly vegetated with dwarf pines. A little below the summit, the steepness decreases and then in few steps we reach the peak.
