Pliskovica - Volnik

Access to starting point:
The starting point of the path is across the road on a bus stop in Pliskovica (it starts on a concrete road). To Pliskovica we can come from the direction Sežana through Dutovlje, or from Vipava valley through Branik and Komen.

Path description:
We start at the bus stop in Pliskovica. The path starts downwards on the concrete (approx 100 meters) and when we get into the valley on the left there is a pond. Exactly there is the crossroad which splits left and right. Both paths lead on Volnik.
We choose the left and we continue on the macadam road slightly upwards. The path is mostly flat with gentle valleys and all the time leads through the forest. By the path, we will on the left notice also the hunting observatory.
When we get to the crossroad (triangular shape), we can see signs with the names of the trees. There we continue right. When we come to the next crossroad, we get to the road which comes from the side if at the beginning at the pond we would turn right. There we go straight (slightly left) on a footpath upwards.
Soon when we step on the footpath, we see the first sign for Volnik (a wooden arrow). The path is all the time to the top ascending through the forest and is on every crossroad well-marked. After approximately half an hour of walking, we come on the road (grassy) and there we can turn 100 meters left, where below a nice branched tree, there is a bench for rest. We again return 100 meters back and we continue again on a footpath up another 5-10 minutes and we come to the summit.
On the top there is a mini panoramic platform with descriptions of birds, mountains,...
A view is pleasant in all directions from Gulf of Trieste, over karst, and to Julian Alps.
I recommend poles and an appropriate footwear.
