Podgrad - Castle Stari grad (Stari Osterberg) (via millstone quarry)

Access to starting point:
From the eastern Ljubljana bypass, we head to the exit Ljubljana - east and continue driving along Zaloška cesta in the direction of Zaloga. Further, we drive on the main road towards Podgrad. In the settlement Podgrad, we turn right through the underpass under the railway track and then continue on a relatively narrow road in the direction of Besnica and Janče. Only a little before the end of the settlement Podgrad, we park on the parking lot on the left side of the road. If the parking lot is occupied, we can turn right here onto the cart track next to the information board and cross the stream over a small wooden bridge. There is also some space for parking.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we first cross the main road and past the information board, which describes the Ostrovrharjeva pot, we head onto the cart track and over a small wooden bridge cross the stream Besnica. The cart track turns left and brings us to a crossroads.
Sharply right on the cart track or macadam road leads the Ostrovrharjeva pot, next to which there is also a signpost; slightly to the right a shortcut branches off, which higher up joins the Ostrovrharjeva pot, but we continue straight on the gentle cart track. The gentle cart track then brings us to a grassy clearing, on which we will also notice the hunting observatory. We continue on the cart track, which at this spot due to frequent mud we can also bypass on the path running along the edge of the clearing. After the clearing, the path brings us to a junction.
Straight on the cart track leads the more direct path to the old castle Osterberg, but we continue left onto the narrower path, directed there also by the signpost for the Ostrovrharjeva pot. From the junction, the path first slightly descends and then crosses the stream Besnica over a small wooden bridge. Here we are again at a junction and continue right; straight across the road leads the Ostrovrharjeva pot to the summit of Murjevka. So we continue along the stream, which we cross again, and then walk alongside it for quite some time on a wide gentle path. Later the path narrows and continues along the stream all the way to a junction where there is a bench and an information board about Knapovska Draga.
Here we leave the path along the valley of the stream Besnica and continue sharply right. From the junction, the path starts to ascend steeply through the forest. The steep path then brings us in a few longer hairpin turns to the millstone quarry.
At the quarry, where there is also a junction, we continue right and the path soon brings us to the second quarry. We continue on the narrow path, which ascends a somewhat steeper slope and brings us to the side ridge. On the ridge we continue left and through the forest some views open up onto the surrounding hills. The path then brings us to a junction a little below the summit of the old castle, where there is also a bench. We continue left and only a short ascent to the top remains.
