Potoki - Stol (Julian Alps)

Access to starting point:
From Bovec or Tolmin we drive to Kobarid, where in the center we go towards the border crossing Robič. The road then brings us to the village Staro Selo, where at the crossroad we turn right in the direction of village Breginj and Potoki. We follow this road past village Kreda behind which we park on a parking lot on the left side of the road. The parking lot is located some 100m before the village Potoki.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue towards the village Potoki, where then signposts point us to the right on a narrow road. The road in sharp the left turn we leave and go right on a cart track which runs in the forest. At ascending on a cart track we also come to some crossings, which are well marked. On the right side of cart track, we will then soon notice a signpost, which points us left on a footpath on which we are then for quite some time ascending. The path then leads us past a source with a drinking water and ascends a little steeper.
The path slowly turns slightly to the left and first time brings us out of the forest on a little overgrown grassy slopes. Here also a nice view opens up on Matajur and Stol. From grassy slopes we again come in the forest through which we are ascending all the way to bivouac Hlek.
At the bivouac we join mountain road which we follow all the way to a crossroad, where the road branches off to the left towards Breginj, and right towards Učja and Žaga. We continue straight following the signs »Stol 1 ura« (1 hour). The road soon ends, and we continue right by the fence on quite steep grassy slope. When we get to the ridge we go left and then follows only few more shorter ascents to the top of Kobariški Stol.
