Rakitovec - Kavčič (on a cart track)

Access to starting point:
From the direction Ljubljana: From Primorska highway (A1) we leave the highway at Črni Kal and go on the old main road towards the sea. After 3 km on larger crossroad we turn left towards Hrastovlje and Croatian border and after 1 km once again like this. Through Kubed we come in Gračišče, where before school building we turn left towards Rakitovec, to which lead us signs through Smokvica and Movraž. On the end of the steepness we cross Pulj railway track and we turn right 1 km towards the border crossing Rakitovec and 300 meters before the border crossing we turn left on a cart track and we park on a clearing approximately 2 km ahead.
IZ SMERI KOPRA: From Kopra we go on the old main road towards Ljubljana. In Rižana we turn right towards Hrastovlje and we stick to the main road towards the border - further follow the upper description.

Path description:
From the clearing, we go on a cart track right (eastern) and after few minutes we come to a crossroad with overgrown forest path. We stay on a cart track which goes upwards and we also don't leave it. The road starts at first ascending in zig-zags, after that most part with light ascent leads towards the summit. Past rocky cliff on the left after hundred meters of the steep path we get to carved passage, with what we enter in savanna landscape of chain of unvegetated peaks. From here we can go on a steep goat path left straight to the summit or we continue 15 more minutes on the road and through meadows we come to the top. Peaks are domed and indistinct, peak Kavčič we recognize by iron and wooden cross.
