Rifugio Nordio - Gozman (via Sella Pleccia)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Trbiž / Tarvisio, which is only few kilometers after the national border on the Italian side of the border crossing Rateče. To Trbiž / Tarvisio we can also come from Austria, where we first have to drive to Beljak / Villach and then over the border crossing Thori-Coccau to Trbiž / Tarvisio. In Trbiž / Tarvisio we follow the signs for Videm / Udine on the old road (not highway). Soon after Trbiž / Tarvisio we come in the village Ukve / Ugovizza, where we turn right in the center of the village. In the middle of the village we come to a stream, where by the stream upwards mountain road branches off, which is asphalted. On this road we drive to a crossroad, where we go straight (right), and immediately after that crossroad we come to the next, where we go left. This road which is mostly asphalted we follow to the mountain hut Rifugio Nordio, where we park on a parking lot at the mountain hut.

Path description:
A little below the mountain hut Nordio worse macadam road branches off to the right, which is ascending on the left side of right stream. Already after few steps of walking from the road, cart track branches off to the left, which is then ascending parallel with the road. After five minutes of walking cart track goes into the forest and turns into a footpath.
The path starts ascending steeply and past the abandoned shack brings us to a well. Only a little further, we come to a smaller mountain pasture on which stands old shepherd hut.
Further steepness decreases a little, and the path runs through the forest with some smaller clearings. Then we cross torrent gully, and the path after that quickly comes out of the forest. Next follows only few minutes of walking to a saddle, where we run into signposts and end of the forest road which comes from Austria.
Here we go left on grassy slopes, which are surrounded by thin forest. The path moderately ascends and after 15 minutes of ascent from the saddle brings us to the chapel of Marija Snežna.
Further, the path slightly descends and brings us on grassy slopes. Here we leave the marked path and we go left on a poorly beaten footpath which ascends on a slope upwards. After few minutes of walking, the steepness decreases and in front of us, we notice the peak to which we only have few ten meters of easy walking.
In the last part, in fog, the orientation is difficult.
