Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road ahead towards Bled. In Bled at the traffic lights, the signs for Pokljuka point us to the right. Ahead we drive through Gorje and past the abandoned ski slope Zatrnik to Rudno polje on Pokljuka (large parking lot, barracks and shooting range).
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road (in the winter time cross country ski trail) in the direction of the mountain hut Koča na Uskovnici. The road at first leads past a shooting range, and then passes into spruce forest, through which it continues to a smaller but marked crossroad. From the crossroad, we continue on the left bottom road (slightly right road which leads towards the starting point for mountain pasture Konjščica and Uskovnica access with a car), which is with a traffic sign closed for public traffic. On the road in few minutes we descend in a grassy valley Španove jame, and where after few minutes road splits into two parts.
We continue on the left road (straight slightly downwards Uskovnica), which quickly passes into spruce forest and starts moderately ascending. After few minutes of additional walking the road flattens and it brings us to the upper part of the mountain pasture Praprotnica.
After the last huts the road ends or changes into a cart track which quickly leads into a dense forest. We continue on a marked cart track which continues through the forest, and it leads with some shorter ascents and descents. A well-marked path for some time continues through a dense forest and then descends to a forest road which we follow to the left (right Uskovnica and Rudno polje on the road).
Few minutes we continue on the road, and then we get to signs for mountain pasture Zajamniki, where signs for "sirarna" (cheese cottage) point us slightly right on a cart track, on which we quickly descend to the main part of the mountain pasture Zajamniki.
For a nice view it is worthed to ascend on the southeastern part of the mountain pasture, from where we see the entire street of shepherd huts.
On the way: Planina Praprotnica (1212m)
