Slovenj Gradec - Poštarski dom pod Plešivcem

Access to starting point:
From the direction of Velenje we drive on the main road and right before Slovenj Gradec at the crossroad we turn left in the direction of Kotlje, Podgorje, Center. Then we drive straight through two traffic light crossroads and at the roundabout, we choose the third exit direction Ravne na Koroškem, Podgorje and we park on a large parking lot on the right side of the road.

Path description:
We follow the sidewalk by the main road 20 meters, where we run into the sign for Uršlja gora and Poštarski dom.
On the bridge we cross river Suhodolnica and we go on an asphalt road left towards Stari trg.
In Stari trg we cross the road and we continue left on a sidewalk aprox. 140 meters to presbytery, where at the statue of a saint we turn right on a sidewalk or stairs.
After a short ascent, we again turn right on stairs and we ascend to the church of St. Radegunda, we bypass it on the left side and past the chapel, which marks the beginning of Way of the Cross on castle we get to a large parking lot, which can serve also as starting point.
Here we turn right on Way of the cross on castle, but already at the first chapel we turn left, on a newly settled path through the ditch upwards.
Here is a nicer part of the path, because we can observe smaller waterfalls. When we come out from the ditch, we continue straight on the macadam road past two workshops and a smaller farm, where we run into an asphalt, on which we continue to a crossroad.
Here we turn left and we descend on the road to Chinese restaurant. Here we get to the main road, we turn left and we cross the road at the end of the sidewalk.
A warning, from here on I recommend waterproof hiking boots, because the path is often muddy, and during the heavy rain or longer rain it is very hardly passable!
In good weather because of a larger number of hikers there is beaten grass parallel with the road which leads on a footpath into the forest, otherwise there is a little less than 150 meters on the main road, when the forest road branches off to the left. We turn on the forest road which quickly narrows into a footpath. It soon widens into a alleged former Roman road and to a rocky bridge, supposedly from the Roman times. After the bridge, at the first crossroad we still go straight and then we find a shortcut on the left side, we cross a forest cart track and we ascend on a parallel path. After few unpleasant parts through larger areas of puddles and mud we cross another cart track and we come to the top of a meadow. There we turn sharply left back into the forest, where we start steeply descending towards the valley of the stream Selčnica. When we come out of the forest we get to a macadam road which takes us to Mexican restaurant Saloon. Here we cross the road and through an asphalt yard we walk to the wooden bridge over the stream Selčnica. (Or we can also go right past the church of St. Miklavž). We continue by the smaller stream. After few steps, we need to pay attention to the mountain signpost on the other side of the stream, because otherwise we can find ourselves on a tourist path Pot Rimljanov (also there we can otherwise come to the mountain hut Poštarski dom, but it is very poorly maintained and quite ruined). At the sign, we cross the stream and we follow the path steeply upwards. When we come out of the forest we find ourselves on a large meadow, where we continue towards the only tree in the middle of a meadow. Behind it, we can notice signposts, and we go towards the lonely birch, which stands on the bank on the left side. Behind it, we notice a small footpath which crosses the bank and crosses the edge at the sign for path Pot Rimljanov. We continue by the corn field upwards, we cross the road and on a smaller meadow we cut the turn. Here we have another opportunity to extend the path on the path Pot Rimljanov. And we continue on the asphalt road left, past the church of St. Rok where the path Meškova pot joins, past the bar Klančnik, and to a crossroad where we again turn left. After a short ascent, we again come to a crossroad, where we turn right on a cycling path around Uršlja gora. On a freshly asphalted road we continue straight to a crossroad for farm Spanžel. Here we turn left towards the farm we cross the yard and straight on a cart track we get to a meadow. Because of the livestock, it is possible that we will have to cross few electric fences, but this shouldn't stop us, because to our destination separates us only a pleasant walk on a meadow upwards (we go on the left side of the forest). For those who are fast, such walk is a little less than an hour and a half long, and those who rather walk slower will need two hours.......
