Access to starting point:
We drive by road from Radmirje or over Kranjski Rak to the village of Solčava and park there. Access to Solčava is also possible via Pavličevo sedlo through Logarska Dolina from Jezersko.
Path description:
The path starts in front of the multi-purpose center Rinka and leads us right over a wooden bridge across the Savinja. On the other side, we turn left and after a few steps right steeply upwards into the forest. The path brings us approximately after 20 minutes to the 700-year-old Solčava yew tree. There also stands a smaller farm Hribarnik. Behind the farm's business building, the path turns right into the forest onto a forest road/cart track. This cart track higher up turns right slightly downwards, while our path goes upwards through the forest. On the trunks, we can also notice blazes, which from here onwards become less and less visible. A little higher, the path brings us to a surface-laid water supply pipe, which we follow steeply right upwards to a small water catchment. From the catchment, we go a few steps further right to a nice vantage point. From here, we go a few dozen steps straight upwards and then cross approximately 50 m slightly right upwards. Here we arrive at a sort of forest scree. From here on, the path goes only upwards across the scree. Higher up, we must pay attention to a large beech tree supported by rock below the walls on the left side. A little lower under the beech tree, we notice on two rocks still quite well-visible blazes. If we miss this, we end up in the dead end of this forest scree. Around us above us is a vertical wall, so we just return a little lower and search for these sought-after markers.
The path crosses left under the beech tree between the marked rocks to a steep ridge. Although it may seem to us that this is not a possible path, we are on the right path. After a few steps of steep climbing, we spot a steel cable, actually the wire of an electric power line, which assists us in these last meters to Zijalka. We see it only when we are right in front of it.
The path is quite demanding in terms of orientation. The main difficulty is that the path runs through the forest. We also need to be skilled in hiking on steep terrain. It is good to have a rope in the backpack, especially in winter time.
