Spodnja Kokra - Bašeljski vrh

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Kranj - vzhod and follow the road ahead in the direction of Jezersko. Only few kilometers after the turn-off for Preddvor we will on the right side of the road notice transformer and by it parking lot, where we park. Here are also signposts for mountain hut Dom Čemšenik.

Path description:
From the parking lot at first we carefully cross the road, and then we go on a footpath in the direction of the mountain hut Dom Čemšenik. A wide path lightly ascends to the homestead Polajnar, where we step on the road which we follow to the right.
The road just after the house steeply ascends, which a little higher loses an asphalt covering. Further, the road flattens and turns a little towards the left, where it gets very close to the stream Čemšeniški potok. Even a little further, we cross the mentioned stream and right after it we come at the marked crossroad, where we continue on the left road in the direction of mountian hut Dom Čemšenik. The road then again starts ascending steeper and in less than 30 minutes of additional walking brings us to the mountain hut Dom Čemšenik.
From the hut Dom Čemšenik we continue in the direction of Javorov vrh (on a sign Javorjev vrh) on the path which after few meters goes into the forest. At first moderately steep path soon brings us to a torrent ditch, by which there is then for some time ascending. Higher, the path turns to the right and it ascends even steeper. This relatively steep path, which all the time runs through a dense forest, we follow all the way to a crossing on the saddle between Potoška gora on the left and Javorov vrh on the right.
We continue right (left Potoška gora and St. Jakob) on a moderately steep path, which after a short ascent brings us on the southwestern ridge of Javorov vrh, from which a view opens up a little towards Cjanovca. The path only a little further goes again into a dense forest, where we come on next well-marked crossing.
Here we continue left in the direction of Srednji vrh, Kališče and Storžič (straight Javorov vrh 15 minutes) on the path which after few additional strides, brings us to a pleasant well. Next follows half an hour crossing of the slopes below Javorov vrh, which ends on the saddle between the mentioned peak and Cjanovca.
On the saddle joins the path from Javorov vrh, and we continue left in the direction of Hudičev boršt (straight Cjanovca and Srednji vrh). The path then crosses slopes towards the west, and then it brings us out of the forest on panoramic southern slopes of Cjanovca. Next follows crossing of occasionally steep grassy slopes, which ends on the periphery of the forest Hudičev boršt. From here the path ascends a little steeper and after few minutes of additional walking brings us to the cottage Zavetišče v Hudičevem borštu.
From the cottage, we continue towards the west, where we quickly get to the source in Hudičev boršt, right after it at the marked crossing, where we continue straight (left downwards path Mačenska pot in Mače). Next follows a shorter crossing of a grassy slope, and then the path passes into the forest and it brings us to a crossing, where the path towards Dolga njiva, Cjanovca, Srednji vrh and Mali Grintovec branches off to the right, and we continue straight. The path ahead for a short time crosses slopes towards the left, and after the crossing of gully brings us to a crossing, where we continue right towards Kališče (bottom path leads in Mače).
The path ahead still crosses slopes towards the left. During the crossing we will get to smaller scree, from which first a view opens up towards the valley. Next follows a short crossing and the path brings us into a valley of Suha, where from the left also joins an unmarked path from Mače.
We continue in the direction of Kališče and we continue the ascent on a gradually more and more steep path. The path ahead is for some time ascending through a dense forest and then it brings us by the foot of rocky cliffs and only a little higher on the ridge, where just few meters from the path, we notice a smaller cottage. Here the path turns right and steeply ascends over a shorter rocky jump. The path here flattens and only few meters ahead joins the normal path which leads on Kališče.
We continue in the direction of Kališče and we continue the ascent on a moderately steep path, on which in 5 minutes of additional walking, we get to the mountain hut Dom na Kališču.
Behind the mountain hut Dom na Kališču we notice a mountain signpost with numerous options to continue. We continue on a gently sloping and panoramic ridge path in the direction of Storžič, Bašeljski vrh..., which continues towards the north. After few minutes of easy walking with nice views, which reaches all the way to Julian Alps, we get to a crossing, where we continue right (straight Storžič) towards Bašeljski vrh. The path ahead ascends steeper through a lane of dwarf pines and with a nice view towards the neighbouring Mali Grintovec brings us on with dwarf pines covered ridge Bašeljski vrh, where in next few minutes we get to the next well-marked crossing. At the crossing, the path to Mali Grintovec and Srednji vrh branches off to the right, and we continue straight and with a view on Storžič we continue the ascent. The path which runs on and by with dwarf pines covered ridge, little below the summit joins also the path from Jekarica and Bašeljski preval. Here we continue right and on a little narrower ridge in a minute of additional walking, we reach Bašeljski vrh, from which a nice view opens up towards the mountains above Jezersko, and the view reaches all the way to Košuta, Obir and Lavanttal Alps in Austria.
Spodnja Kokra - Dom Čemšenik 50 minutes, Dom Čemšenik - Hudičev boršt 2:05, Hudičev boršt - Kališče 1:20, Kališče - Bašeljski vrh 45 minutes.
