Šport hotel - Debela peč

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and we follow the road in the direction of Bled, there in traffic lights crossroad signs for Pokljuka point us to the right. This road which in the lower part runs through some villages and later starts ascending steeper we follow to Šport hotel on Pokljuka. We park at an appropriate place by the road or near the hotel. Parking in front of the hotel is only for guests.

Path description:
From Šport hotel on the road we return to a crossroad with the main road, and then we continue the ascent in the direction of Rudno polje. After approximately 100 meters of walking by the main road, forest road branches off to the right, which quickly leads in spruce forest. The mentioned road, that is gently ascending and by which we notice some blazes, we follow all the way to its end at larger turning point. At the end of the road, we notice a wide marked cart track, on which we continue in a moderate ascent. Cart track after a shorter ascent flattens, and then starts gradually descending. After few minutes of descent, we step out of the forest on an ample mountain pasture Planina Zajavornik.
When we step on the mountain pasture the path is for some time still gently descending, and then it brings us in the heart of the mountain pasture, where we notice numerous shepherd (holiday cottage) cottages. The path ahead crosses a short lane of a forest, after which we step on a macadam road (option for the starting point).
The mentioned road, we only cross, because signs for mountain hut Blejska koča point us on a wide and at first still gentle footpath. The path ahead continues through at first thin, and then through more and more dense forest. Higher, we cross the forest road, and the path gradually becomes steeper. We soon join the path from the monument (Pri Rupah), and then only a little further we join a wide cart track (starting point Medvedova konta). We continue the ascent on a cart track, and it quickly brings us to the bottom part of the mountain pasture Lipanca. Here we notice the sign, that we are entering the grazing area, it warns us, that we are not allowed to walk on shortcuts. We continue on a wide path, which past memorial plates in few minutes brings us to the mountain hut Blejska koča na Lipanci.
From the mountain pasture, we continue right on at first poorly visible and poorly marked path, which after a short ascent brings us on the upper edge of the mountain pasture, where there is also a smaller crossing. We continue slightly left in the direction of "Lipanski vrh, Brda and Debela peč" on the path which on the right side bypasses bigger sinkhole. Only a little further, the "main" path branches off the path towards Lipanski vrh.
We continue slightly right in the direction of Debela peč on the path which starts gradually ascending steeper and steeper. When we walk this a little steeper part of the path, we come to the next crossing, where we continue straight in the direction of Debela peč (left Lipanska vrata and Brda). We continue on a gently sloping path, from which after few additional strides path to the mountain pasture Klek branches off to the right. A well-marked path then on the left side bypasses interesting peak named Spodnja Brda (1844 m) and then starts ascending steeper on a less and less grassy slopes. When we come on an ample ridge steepness decreases and the path turns to the right, where bypasses with dwarf pined Okroglež. Next follows 10 minutes of a crossing towards the east, which ends by the upper foot of the Debela peč. Here the path steeply ascend and after additional 10 minutes brings us on a peak with a beautiful view.
