From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road ahead in the direction of Žirovnica and Jesenice. After few kilometers of driving, we will get to a crossroad, where a road branches off to the right into Žirovnica (from the direction of Jesenice left). Further, we drive on a little narrower road which at the crossroads we follow in the direction of the mountain hut Valvasorjev dom and Završnica. The road then flattens and it brings us to a crossroad, where the road towards the mountain hut Valvasorjev dom branches off to the left, and we continue straight on at first still asphalt road. The road soon becomes a macadam, and we follow it to a parking lot near the mountain hut Tinčkova koča. The road in the upper part is often in quite bad condition.
Path description:
At the beginning of the parking lot blazes point us to the left in the forest. After few meters, we come to a crossing where the unmarked path on Stol branches off to the right (via Zagon). We continue left on a marked path and further mostly in a gentle ascent, we through the forest cross pretty steep slopes, which in snow can be very dangerous for slipping. Later, the path brings us to a cart track where we continue left. After a short descent on a cart track we come again to a crossing where blazes from the cart track point us to the right into the forest. Slope further isn't that steep anymore and then follows few shorter ascents and descents. After that, the path turns a little to the right and few times crosses forest cart tracks. Such a path then brings us out of the forest where we join a wide cart track. Signposts point us on a cart track on which we soon reach the mountain pasture Zabreška planina.
From the mountain pasture, we continue on a cart track which again brings us into the forest. After a short descent through the forest we get to the next mountain pasture, this time Žirovniška planina, where there is an unmarked crossing. We go slightly right and the path past the shepherd huts brings us into the forest, where we join also the path Žirovniška pot on Stol. At the crossing, we continue left and in a gentle descent through the forest we soon reach the mountain hut Valvasorjev dom below Stol.
