Tolminske Ravne - Tolminski Kuk (via Planina Kal)

Access to starting point:
From Tolmin follows 12 km long driving to Tolminske Ravne. From the center of the Tolmin we go towards Žabče. In this settlement, we turn right among houses and above the village we continue driving towards Tolminske Ravne. Eventually we descend to the valley, where we cross a bridge and we continue uphill towards Ravne. When we get to the village, we turn right on a smaller parking lot.
The road is completely asphalted, but in some parts narrow and with sharp turns.

Path description:
From the parking lot path leads us on a meadow, past the signpost for TNP. At the end of the meadow is door of the pasture, after it signpost leads us on the path left uphill on the mountain pasture Planina Kal and Migovec. Here we still don't see the signs for Tolminski Kuk, because we continue in the direction of Migovec. From here continues easy, poorly marked path, but at the crossings well-marked with signposts. Soon the path "Kravja pot" branches off to the left, which has the same destination, but it is less steep, and if we continue straight, we come on a steeper forest path.
When we come on a clearing, we come to a crossroad, where we continue right uphill. In case if we came on the path "Kravja pot", we just continue straight. Over few minutes we already see mountain pasture Kal and Migovec above it.
After the mountain pasture Planina Kal there is a signpost, which pointing upwards on Krn, whereupon few meters above the cottages, it splits left on Krn, and right on Migovec. We continue in the direction of Migovec.
The path leads us at first through dwarf pines, then over a rocky path, on some parts there is also smaller scree. From the path, we have a nice view towards Krn mountain chain and through a valley of Tolminka. On rocky path through zig-zags we come on a saddle, where we can already see the peak. Here leads the path right upwards on Migovec (approx 15 minutes), and left downwards on Tolminski Kuk.
The path at first descends for few altitude meters, we then continue on a gentle path in the direction of rare the blazes, and the path becomes worse beaten. We get help from stone cairns, especially in a foggy weather, because among dwarf pines we can quickly go astray from the path.
We soon come out of the dwarf pines, and the path gets poorly marked, so we follow the cairns in the direction towards the summit of Tolminski Kuk, which is all the time in front of us.
In case if we will follow the cairns and signs, the path will bring us to the saddle between Tolminski Kuk and Zeleni vrh, where we join even worse marked path from the direction Škrbina.
From the saddle to the top there is 15 more minutes of ascent on the edge of the ridge, therefore a little more caution is needed.
The peak is marked with a cairn, there we find also an inscription book and a stamp.
