From Novo Mesto we drive towards Metlika or vice versa. On the mountain pass Vahta is a larger parking lot, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we go on a macadam road in the direction of the mountain hut Dom na Gorjancih. The road first hour of walking runs almost horizontal and only rare a view opens up a little because larger part of the path, we walk through the forest. And in the second part of the path road brings us to the crossing from where we have two options to continue. Left footpath is 10 minutes shorter as path on the road. If we continue on the road for some time we are ascending by the stream, which is a little higher border line between Slovenia and Croatia. The road then turns left and after some sharp turns from the left again joins footpath. Then we follow the road for few minutes to the spot, where left downwards road towards the mountain hut branches off. Follows only a good minute of walking to the mountain hut.
