Path description:
From the parking lot, we go back in the direction towards roundabout below the ski jumping hill on parallel street through Stari trg.
The path leads us past the sign at villa Bianca with the description of local community Staro Velenje. Right from villa Bianca the path leads on stairs on Velenje Castle. And we continue straight to a roundabout.
In a roundabout we stick to 1st exit towards Polzela. We follow the road to a crossroad, where a sign for Šalek mountain trail points us left on the road upwards.
By the end of the asphalt road we go right in the forest. Wide, steep forest path over roots and stairs brings us on the ridge of Koželj. A sign for family and mountain trail points us to the left.
To the right leads the path on Veliki Koželj (580 meters).
We follow a wide path on the ridge. After approximately 15 minutes of walking, we get to tables and benches and box with an inscription book. Here a wonderful view opens up on Velenje Castle, town Velenje and on hills, which surround it on the north and west.
Especially stands out a view on Uršlja gora and Peca. We continue a few more meters further to the highest point of Koželj at an altitude 590 meters. From the highest point there isn't any view, because it is surrounded by trees.
