Access to starting point:
A) We leave Gorenjska highway at exit Kranj west, and then we follow the signs for Golnik. In the settlement Goriče we leave the main road towards Golnik and we continue right towards Zalog. Further, we follow the signs for Zalog, where in the center of the settlement, by mountain signposts, there is the beginning of the described path. At the starting point, there aren't any parking spots.
B) From Tržič we drive to Križe, and then we continue towards Golnik and Kranj. In the settlement Goriče we leave the main road towards Kranj and we continue left towards Zalog. Further, we follow the signs for Zalog, where in the center of the settlement, by mountain signposts, there is the beginning of the described path. At the starting point, there aren't any parking spots.
Path description:
From the center of Zalog we continue straight in the direction towards Gozd and Kriška gora (right Velika Poljana, Mala Poljana and Storžič) and on an asphalt road, we continue to a hamlet Svarje, where the road turns left. The road after few houses becomes a macadam, and we leave it before it starts descending.
We continue right, where behind the house path passes into the forest, and in the forest also blazes show up, which until now, the exception hiking signposts, weren't there. Through the forest, we are at first ascending diagonally towards the left, and when we reach the cart track, we continue right. Cart track quickly splits, we choose the left, and at the crossings we follow the blazes. Higher, the cart track ends and we continue the ascent on at first still steep mountain path, which gradually flattens. A gently sloping path brings us out of the forest, on an ample pastures, through which in few minutes we walk to the village Gozd, where at the first crossing we continue left (right Koča na Kriški gori and Tolsti vrh), on second, only few 10 strides distant crossing we go right (left Golnik).
The path ahead leads us past the church of St. Nikolaj, past the parking lot and past the turn-off of the road towards airfield Gozd, to the cottage Zavetišče v Gozdu, which we notice on the left side of the road.
