Church of the Virgin Mary on Kamen

Description of mountain:
Church of the Virgin Mary on Kamen is located by the right bank of the river Drava, more precisely by the road which connects Vuzenica and Vuhred.
Near the church is situated also the chapel dedicated to Blessed Anton Martin Slomšek.
The legend of the origin of the church:
According to legend on that hill in front of the church there were castle gallows for the execution of the death penalty. Pilgrims father and son, went on Svete Višarje and they stopped at the inn Premrov at Novi trg, now Spodnji trg in Vuzenica, to get some rest. To the inn came gendarmes, who were looking for the stolen golden chalice. The thief unnoticeably pushed the chalice into the backpack of a young pilgrim, which was below the table, and gendarmes found it. The son was sentenced to death by hanging and the sentence was carried out immediately. The next morning his father went to take his son down and bury him. The son who hung on the gallows was still alive and he said, that he stood on the shoulders of a white lady, who saved him from death, since he was innocent. In gratitude, they built the church of the Virgin Mary on Kamen.
