Description of mountain:
Schiffall is 1221 meters high peak in Graz mountains.
Together with the neighbouring Kreuzkogel it is rising above the middle valley of Mur, north from the town Frohnleiten.
In records from the year 1490 the peak was named „Podschibalun“. The name originates from Slovenian word počivalo
(resting place of cattle) with the first syllable dropped.
On Schiffall and Kreuzkogel we can ascend from Mixnitz (447 meters), and also from Laufnitzdorf (440 meters).
The paths to the top are on some parts quite steep but in spite of that undemanding. Only the last section to Kreuzkogel and the passage between the peaks require caution.
