The first patron saint of Dubrovnik was St. Srđ, after which the hill got its name.
On the top there is a transmitter, a stone cross, restaurant and fortress Imperial, in which there is settled a war museum.
They built the fortress between the years 1806 and 1816 in the time of Napoleonic wars. It was extended in the time of Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Srđ used to be vegetated with oak forest, which the locals called Dubrava. From here also the name of the town originates.
