Access to starting point:
We drive from Kranjska Gora over mountain pass Vršič towards Bovec or vice versa, but only to 50th hairpin turn of Vršič road or Ruska cesta (near the village Trenta). Here we turn on a side road, by which we after few 100 meters park on a parking lot by the road.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road, and which past few houses (mainly holiday cottages) in approximately 15 minutes brings us to the spot, where the road splits into two parts (by the crossroad used to be a parking lot, today it is forbidden to park).
We continue on the bottom right road (on the upper road we get to a cargo cableway, which runs on Pogačnikov dom) in the direction of Dolič, Luknja and Prehodavci. At first, a gentle road which leads us through scenic meadows, higher through the forest, we follow almost to its end, or more precisely to a marked crossing, where a marked footpath towards Prehodavci branches off to the right (to here we need approximately 1 hour).
From a crossing at an area named Utro we continue straight, the road here finally changes into a footpath or mule track. We continue the ascent on an old mule track, which is further moderately ascending over occasionally steeper slopes. Further, climbing path over Komar soon branches off to the right, and we go straight and we still continue the ascent on a wide path. Panoramic path, which occasionally runs over very steep slopes, higher brings us to the next marked crossing.
From the crossing, we go right (left Luknja and Triglav over Plemenice) and we continue in the direction of the mountain hut Koča na Doliču. Still a wide path further starts ascending towards the south and crosses slopes of Vrh Zelenic (2468 meters). When the slope flattens a little from the right joins the path over Komar, and we follow the mule track to the next crossing, where the path towards the mountain hut Zasavska koča branches off to the right (path Pot Mire Marko Debelakove over Kanjavčeve police).
Here we continue left and more panoramic and occasionally precipitous path brings us to a crossing near the mountain hut Koča na Doliču.
Here we continue slightly right (left Triglav) on the path which quickly brings us to the mountain hut Koča na Doliču (sometimes Tržaška koča na Doliču).
From the mountain hut, we continue in the direction of Vodnikov dom on the path which gently ascends to a saddle Dolič.
On Dolič, where there is a marked crossing, we go on the left path in the direction of the mountain hut Dom Planika pod Triglavom (straight Vodnikov dom, right Hribarice). We continue the ascent on the path which ascends diagonally on relatively steep slopes of Šmarjetna glava. On a little more demanding spot, there's a steel cable for help, and the path then gradually passes on a less steep slope. The path ahead for some time continues on more plateau terrain, after that slowly passes on the scree by the foot of Rjavec (2568 meters). On the mentioned scree, we diagonally ascend, and the path then brings us to technically more demanding passage. Ahead with the help of numerous fixed safety gear we diagonally ascend through less steep walls, and then the path turns to the left and becomes technically easier. Next follows for approximately 20 minutes long ascent and more and more scenic path brings us to the mountain hut Dom Planika pod Triglavom.
