Kalce - Veliki Javornik (Javorniki)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Postojna, and then we drive towards the center of Postojna. In the mentioned settlement we will notice signs for Pečna reber and railway station, which point us to the right, after that approximately 200 meters before the railway station we turn left (crossroad isn't marked) on the road which soon leads over the highway. On the other side of the highway we come on a crossroad, where a road towards Stara vas branches off to the right, and we continue in the direction of Javornik and Sveta Trojica. A little further, by NOB monument, the road branches off to the left towards Pečna reber, and we continue slightly right and we follow nice macadam road to a crossroad, where signs for Javornik point us to the left. We park few meters further on an appropriate place by the road.

Path description:
At the starting point signs for Javornik point us on the left road, and we walk there to a moderate left turn. Here a poorly visible sign points us right on a little overgrown path, on which we quickly get to the nearby wooden cottage. We continue slightly left on quite an overgrown path, and higher it gets very close to a forest road. Only few meters before we step on the road, we go right and we continue the ascent on a wide cart track which is further moderately ascending through the forest. Cart track higher changes into a footpath, and it quickly brings us to a forest road which we follow to the right.
We continue on the macadam road, from which soon to the left a marked path branches off on Mali Javornik (the turn-off isn't marked, but at the beginning of the path there is a small cairn), and we still continue on the road, and near the hunting cottage it brings us to a crossroad, where we continue on the left upper road. Next follows few more 10 minutes of walking on a moderately ascending road, and then we get to the next crossroad, where we again continue left, this time on a quite bad road. Only few steps ahead, we step out of the forest, where there are two stone cottages (Fortin). Here we go sharply left and we continue the ascent on a wide cart track which over Medvedov klanec quickly brings us to the summit of Veliki Javornik.
